Hi, I’m Steve.

I am an artist, and educator based in Kitchener.  I received a BA in Honours Fine Arts from the University of Waterloo, and completed my MFA at Western University.

My work explores the space between abstraction and representation, while articulating the subjective manner in which individuals understand and occupy the space around them. I have exhibited in solo and group exhibitions in Ontario, Alberta and the United States.

As an educator, I have taught studio art at Western University and the University of Waterloo, and worked in education and programming at various public art galleries, and artist-run-centres, including Museum London, Elora Centre for the Arts, and Contemporary Art Forum Kitchener + Area (CAFKA). Currently, as Director of Public Programs at Kitchener-Waterloo Art Gallery, I oversee all on-site and community-based education programs.

I am passionate about working alongside those that I teach.  I aim to facilitate a process-based approach to art-making, that encourages self-expression, and dialogue with me as a collaborator, and with the artwork itself.
